Самоубийцы/Suiciders interview in Omsk

The following interview is translated from Russian, therefore I can't guarantee that it is 100% correct but I think you get the main ideas. Alexey gave the interview on 22. February in the Russian city Omsk, where he was to present the "Самоубийцы" movie.

_______________________________________
In Omsk was a press screening of "Suicide." It was on 22. February in one of the halls of the "Atrium" Cinema. City Information Guide (the interviewer) has not bypassed the event and took active part in it. A film about suicidal persons gives hope for the life of domestic cinemas. Cheerful and light, it's nevertheless full of philosophical reasoning. "Life - this is the way to death" - says the hero Tolik, played by Eugene Stychkin. And as it turns out, all the wild and daring deeds have their origin in this very thought. On the wide screen the film will be released on 1st March.

As a part of showing the film we met with one of the main actors in the film - Alexey Vorobyov. City Information Guide also asked a few questions. Alex gives very detailed answers to all interested journalists in Omsk.

 - In the film there are a lot of stunts. Did you took part in them?

Alexey Vorobyov (AV): In all movies I do my own stunts. And on a shooting of this film I had already a broken finger on my hand. I'd show it to you but it would be indecent. (Alexey points to the middle finger of his left hand) Therefore, in the scene where we jump off the roof, I wear leather gloves. Some stunts of this movie were incredibly dangerous. But the adrenaline - for me that's life. There is a type of people who turn in an emergency reason, I do not belong to them. When I'm in such moments, the brakes fail.

 - Do you do some extreme sport?

AV: I've tried some things: I was engaged in extreme driving, jumping with a parachute. I also remember that when I were about 4 years, I began to jump on the trampoline. Then there were a lot of injuries and bruises and now my body is just used to them. In this film were some really dangerous stunts. For example, when I was hanging on the sixteenth floor, my only insurance was a belt with a carabiner and a rope that bound me with Stytchkin. And when we jumped from the bridge, the insurance did not exist. And we shot the scene twice. But I always thoroughly prepare for each trick, trying to figure out all the moments.

 - Were there funny situations on the set?

AV: We have a comedy called "Suicide" - this may be one answer to the question. Usually, they are all funny behind the scenes. And this is the first film in my career where the fun remains on the screen. On set, we were one family.

Incidentally, this was a very unusual project. We all worked for free in this film. No one received a fee, neither the operators nor the directors, no make-up artists, no actors. Generally no one.

 - You want to say that this film - is a kind of charity?

AV: No, not in any way. This is a new technology that is often used in Hollywood, but here - for the first time. All of us - co-producers the film and the money to hire is divided among all. It's just that everyone has a certain percentage. This technology is the perfect solution for novice directors.

 - Can you name it "a movie guide for suicide"?

AV: No. It is much more of life-affirming ideas. According to statistics, Russia has a leading position in the world in the number of suicides among not only adults but also teenagers. And the statistics did not change the past ten years. When I was a teenager, I also thought about this idea. But it is stupid, irresponsible. And it must be fought. The kids think that if they commit suicide, you instantly become famous, they start talking about it in the press. But it is a distorted view, everything isn't so. In death there is nothing romantic and beautiful. The film "Suicide" is a kind of vaccination against suicide. Let it be funny, the movie is an important idea - we are all accountable to someone and someone is responsible for us. Everyone in the film has it's weaknesses. And being together, the characters begin to supplement each other. Each of them gave part of himself to another person. This movie is about how to win a life, not lose it.

- Were there moments in the script that you would like to change?

AV: We altered much directly on the set, especially the dialogues. Yegor Baranov - a young director just graduated from university, he's almost my age (Alexey '24 - note author). We have assembled a young team and everyone brings in their own ideas. The constructor was gathered every day in the frost and cold. By the way, acting was not great because of the cold weather. Yegor expressed in an interview the hope that this is the first and last of his films, which he shooted in the winter. Everything was frozen! But it gave us additional extreme to the shooting.

- Your promo tour continues and soon you will go to Tula, your home town. Will you have time to chat with your loved ones?

AV: All my relatives are coming to the premiere of the film, which will be held in the Festival. Unfortunately my schedule is a little bit crazy. I'll be at the premiere, have time to chat a bit with my family then with the press and the next day I'm going away to Voronezh.

 - You have recently returned from Los Angeles. Please tell us about this trip.

AV: It's not a trip, it's my life. Now I live in Los Angeles where I'm recording my album. I signed a contract with a producer [RedOne] who has promoted Lady Gaga. The album will be released around the end of this year. There, in America, I'm acting in two schools. In Russia I studied two years at the Moscow Art Theater School. Sasha Strizhenov brought me into the "Suicide" movie, he knew me as a student and saw my works.

  - What has more soul - the music or movies?

AV: Without music I would not have been able to live. Music for me is a kind of outlet. This is such a powerful driving force. The cinema needs music and we have great music in the film.

 - You said that the music saved you. What do you mean?

AV: I was six years old when I stared playing the accordion. There were moments when I wanted to throw everything, right up to do sports - soccer. But life is still pushing me to the music. Dad said: "If you throw everything to make music now, then later in life you will bring nothing to an end." And I disaccustomed for 5 years. However, my parents allowed me to do poorly in school, if I play well on the accordion. A person can and should do well at least one thing. And I still do not know how to divide the column. If I do bad, I always take my guitar and compose something. When a girl left me, I wrote music. When a man splits from a woman, there are two ways to deal with it, drink or become promiscuous. I chose a third way - the art.

The conversation with Alexey lasted nearly an hour. It could have gone on but the fans were waiting for him. After the interview, he performed several of his songs in the lobby of the "Atrium" cinema. The audience welcomed him with great enthusiasm.

In the words of the hero Alexey in the movie: "He knew all about death and chose the long road to it - life."

"24 hours in Moscow" Shena Winchester full video

The "24 hours in Moscow" video of Shena Winchester and Alexey was finally released! Hot or hot? ;)

Lyrics:
24 hours in Moscow (можно можно, Давай-Давай Да)

I've got a freaky little secret
He is a DJ and his name is ?
And it's not hard for me to keep it
1500 miles from my homeboy's bed

можно можно, Давай-Давай Да
до свидания, спасибо
можно можно, Давай-Давай Да
до свидания, спасибо

24 hours in Moscow
можно можно, Давай-Давай Да
24 hours in Moscow
можно можно, Давай-Давай Да

Cooking up a sweat in a snow storm
I can get my kicks (sh!) it's on the downlow
Got what I need now I'm reborn
Had my naughty fix now it's back to Heathrow

можно можно, Давай-Давай Да
до свидания, спасибо
можно можно, Давай-Давай Да
до свидания, спасибо

24 hours in Moscow
можно можно, Давай-Давай Да
24 hours in Moscow
можно можно, Давай-Давай Да

можно можно
до свидания, спасибо

можно можно...
